Jennifer Tilly was conceived in Los Angeles on 16 September 1958 in very poor circumstances. Her mother, who was a failing actor and schoolteacher, sold automobiles while her father was an auto salesman. Jennifer was the youngest of the four children in her family, frequently attended her mother to her theater performances and was much impressed by her. Jennifer's parents divorced at the age of five. Jennifer lived in British Columbia for most of her childhood after her mother and the other four children moved there. Jennifer wasn't a student although as a kid she was a talented artist. As a result of her education in Canada's public schools, Jennifer came under the sway of much bullying. When she was in high school, her love for theater began to wane. In an effort to counter this, her mom helped her participate as an extra in various performances. Her mother encouraged her entire family to become passionate about the art of making. She immediately took action.
